Check your local pages
Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, Nextdoor, or Craigslist are all great options to start looking for local deals! These will also help you get an idea of what type of furniture is popular in your area as well as the price that is typical for your area.
2. Be specific
Search for specific items. If you are looking for a certain style, make sure you use those keywords. For example, some styles are Mid-century Modern, Farmhouse, French Provincial, etc. The more specific you are, the more you can find something that fits the style of what you are going for.

3. Be conscious of your price range
It is so important to be conscious of what you are willing to spend in order to make a profit. Generally speaking, I try to source furniture within the free - $35 range. You want to make sure that you an make a profit off of the furniture piece once you have refinished it. This takes time to learn, as you want to find the best quality for the lowest price. You also want to factor in the condition of the piece and how long you want to spend on that piece.
4. Check for quality
One of the first things that I ask when looking at furniture is, "Is this solid wood." Cheaper quality like laminate or veneer can be extremely hard to work with and can limit what you can do with the piece. Solid wood will sell better, be easier to work with, and will last longer. If you pieces are not quality to begin with, they will be harder to sell.
5. Create notifications for items
If you find certain styles or pieces that you like and have success selling and refinishing, create notifications for like items. You can do this on Marketplace and it is a great way to keep up with what is being added to the market. Searching every couple of days for pieces is how you can find the best deals.
